Construction works on the Ventus 33 begin!

I have decided to share with you the construction progress of the Ventus 33. We have started works on the yacht in the beginning of April 2019 at Barbaros Teknecilik and I am proud announce the success of the initial phase of the construction. As we are coming to end of the first month of construction, the first layer of planking of the hull is completed. In this post I will share each stage of the construction.

Setting out the hull lines

As the first step of the works the hull lines were set out. To achieve this, the frames that make up the hull are cut out from plywood using a CNC machine. The individual pieces are set out and glued to create the frames. After the waterline is drawn on each frame, the frames are erected on the workbench ensuring the correct levels. The keel is then cut on each frame. Below photos demonstrate this stage of works.

Keel and stempost construction

Once the keel is cut out on each frame, the keel is constructed from laminated acajou and pressed on the hull. The stempost is laminated outside the hull based on the hull lines and the structural section of the yacht.

First layer of planking

The hull is to built of laminated acajou planks. The primary planks will be aligned horizontally and the remaning two layers will be laminated (+) and (-) 45 degrees. After the frames are sanded and smoothed, beams along the sheerline of the yacht is laminated. Following this strip planks glued to each other and held in place by screws, that are removed after the glue is set.
